Spic and Span CLEANER

1. Remove stains from plastic food containers

Leftovers have a way of leaving their mark. To freshen your containers, sprinkle baking soda to a damp sponge (we use hot water) and wipe the surface. You can also erase tough stains with a baking soda soak.

2. Deep-clean extra greasy dishes and pans

In addition to number 1, "Hot water soak, mildly abrasive baking soda, a scrub sponge and some elbow grease is all you need to dissolve stuck-on grease," says Carolyn Forte, director of the Cleaning Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute.

"Add a heaping scoop of baking soda to your normal dish soap and let soak for a while. Baking soda helps gut grease and make it easier to clean." 36 Uses for Baking Soda

3. Easy Microwave Cleanup

Sprinkle some baking soda on a damp cloth and gently scrub away any microwave mess. Cleans and deodorizes. 36 Uses for Baking Soda

4. Baking Soda Oven Cleaner

5. Easy DIY soft scrub for surfaces

Just by combining baking soda with water, you can clean countertops, stainless steel sinks, microwaves, range hoods and cooking utensils. Sprinkle on surfaces, wipe with damp washcloth, rinse, and dry. That easy.

6. Banish mildew from bathrooms

Damp sponge + baking soda + scrub, scrub, scrub. Rinse to reveal gleaming tub, tile, sink and shower curtain.

7. Simple Floor Cleaner

For tile floors, dissolve half cup of baking soda in a bucket of warm water. Use the solution to mop and clean floors.

8. Polish Silver Flatware

To effectively polish silverware, you only need a simple paste of 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water. Rub onto silver flatware with a clean cloth or sponge, rinse, and dry. And bask in the shine!

9. Brighten Dull Jewelry

Before you reach for that toxic silver polish, make a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water, apply it to the jewelry with a lint-free cloth, and rinse.

10. Clean Crayons from Walls

Who would've thought we can still save the wall paint even after our kid's artistic efforts end up all over it? Scrub the walls lightly with a damp sponge sprinkled with baking soda, and wipe off with a clean, dry cloth.

11. Boost Your Laundry Detergent

"Adding baking soda to your laundry helps soften the water making clothes cleaner, fresher, and softer! Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to your laundry to make your detergent go further."

12. Clean Cloth Diapers

And speaking of laundry, we can do away (better) with baking soda for the little's clothes too. Before going through the wash, soak the diaper in 1/2 cup of baking soda into 2 quarts of warm water for a better clean.

13. Remove oil and Grease

Be it a garage spill, or an offending spot on your concrete, a little scrubbing and a baking soda solution can make it disappear. 22 Cleaning Problems You Can Solve With Baking Soda
